TISSUE PULVERIZERS, DISPERSERS, and GRINDERS

These lab tools pulverize or disperse fresh or frozen tissue samples (<10g, wet weight) to the size of grains of sand or smaller.  The process prepares the sample for rapid and efficient cell disruption by mechanical homogenizers (e.g., beadbeating, rotor-stator homogenization, ultrasonication) or by chemical/physical means (e.g., detergent, chaotropic salts, enzymatic, drying).

Tissue pulverization may not be required for soft tissue cell (e.g., liver or brain) disruption, but is often essential with tough tissue such as skin or cartilage.  The pulverization of fresh or frozen fibrous plant material is especially problematic.  Call us or write (hop@biospec.com) and we will help you find the correct disperser for the job.

Tissue culture app: Some of our dispersers are used for the isolation of viable single cells from tissue biopsies.  Contact Tim, hop@biospec.com, for further information.
