Garnet Sharp Particles

Like Silicon Carbide sharp particles, these abrasive particles have sharp cutting edges that can accelerate lysis of plant and tough animal tissue in a Mini-Beadbeater.

Unlike Silicon Carbide particles, Garnet particles fracture into smaller size particles during the beadbeating process.  That can be an advantage when the goal is to disperse a soil sample or feces sample, first with the force of large Garnet particles and then lyse microbial cells in the sample with the help of smaller grinding particles.

NOTE: Garnet particles should not be used to disrupt tissue if the goal is to recover viable microbial cells or intact intracellular organelles.  Garnet Particles should not be used with the BeadBeater Model 1107900.
