The Manual 96-well, Deep Well Microplate Loader is very simple to use. The wells of a one ml 96-well microplate are filled to the top with beads (the 'donor' plate). A 'receiving' one or two ml deep well microplate is positioned, up-side-down, over the filled microplate and the pair is manually inverted. The two well microplate is now loaded with exactly one ml of beads in each well. To facilitate this "fill and flip" method, a stainless steel frame is used to assure accurate positioning of the 'donor' microplate to the 'receiving' microplate. Also included is a unique tray designed to catch and recover excess beads, a spatula, a 0.3 ml 'donor' microplate and a one ml 'donor' microplate.
Of the three bead loaders we offer the Suction-type 96-well, deep well Microplate Bead Loader is the fastest. Beads are loaded into 96 deep well microplates at a rate of about 10 microplates per minute. It is limited to loading spherical glass or ceramic beads only (i.e., not irregularly shaped particles or steel beads). The loader delivers a 0.4 ml load of beads to each well and is compatible with all 96-well, deep well microplates. Included is a 96-nozzle loading manifold, a hand held 110 VAC electrical suction unit and an on/off foot switch.

When temperature control is the utmost concern, select our solid aluminum vial rack for 2ml vials. Our fourty-eight position vial rack is designed to keep your samples at near liquid nitrogen temperatures.
A pack of five polypropylene microvial vial racks. The rack has a standard microplate footprint and has the capacity to hold forty-five 1.5 ml or 2.0 ml microvials on one side or thirty-two 0.5 ml microvials on the other side. One of these racks comes standard with the Mini-BeadBeater 96.
This tube holder is machined out of a 1.5 lb aluminum block and has the dimensions of a standard 2ml deep well microplate. It is used with the MiniBeadbeater-96 cell disrupter. One or two 50 ml screw cap centrifuge tubes are placed completely inside the cold block and the contents shaken in a "wall to wall" direction. The block can be pre-cooled in a freezer or, at cryo-temperatures, with dry-ice or liquid nitrogen.
Included with each vial block are 25 sterile, polypropylene 50 ml screw cap tubes (Stockwell brand, part # 3252).*
*Important note: To maximize the efficiency of heat transfer, this aluminum tube holder was designed to fit with close tolerance to a Stockwell brand 50 ml tube. Other brands of 50 ml centrifuge tube may not fit properly. If you need to use a different brand tube, please check with us first for compatibility.

The BioPulverizer quickly fragments hard frozen tissue samples into tiny pieces the size of grains of sand or course powder. The primary benefit of pulverizing pieces of tissue is to optimize subsequent rapid and complete cell lysis using lytic solutions or mechanical homogenizers. For difficult tissues such as tendon, skin, and tumors it is an essential step (read more). The BioPulverizer is also used at room temperature to fragment friable, dry biomaterial such as non-oily seeds, bone and teeth.

The BioSqueezer is used to "snap-freeze" (quickly freeze) 10-100 mg of soft animal and human tissue. Fresh tissue is compressed into a thin disc about the size of a small coin under pressure from a stainless steel clamp head that has been pre-cooled in liquid nitrogen or dry ice. Freezing occurs in a few milliseconds, thus offering a snapshot of metabolic events in the cells. The hard frozen disc is easily fragmented by hand or ground without thawing in a Cryo-Cup mortar and pestle for subsequent rapid extraction of labile nucleic acids, proteins and intracellular metabolite products.

The CryogenicTissueGrinder is a high-speed blade mill that grinds 1-10 grams of microbial, plant, animal and human tissue having high water content (~70%) to a fine powder in the presence of excess dry-ice. At solid CO2 temperatures, the hard and brittle sample is powdered in seconds. Pulverizing tissue at very low temperature stabilizes intercellular biochemicals and prepares the tissue for rapid extraction in an appropriate liquid media.

A low cost, disposable, tissue disperser for up to 100 mg samples of soft tissue (e.g., liver, brain and muscle). The Dueling Syringes™ tissue disperser is a significant improvement over the classic "syringe-needle-syringe" method of tissue dispersion. The needle is replaced with an embedded 500 micron stainless steel screen inside a 1 ml polycarbonate syringe. Manual passage of the sample back and forth through the screen is fast, gentle and efficient. Sold as a pack of five pairs of syringes.
Ideal for a one step preparation of cell lysate from most fruits and vegetables. Suitable tissues include tubers, squash, leafy tissues, fruits and pods. One of the few methods that do not require added liquid to obtain a cell free extract. Consequently, the highly concentrated proteins and biochemicals in the homogenate optimize down-stream purification or analysis steps. Not suitable for extracting animal tissue.
This classic tool has two applications in the molecular biology area: 1) Preparing large amounts tissue (100g - >1 kg) for subsequent fast and complete cell lysis using a beadbeater, ultrasonicator, rotor-stator machine or high shear press and 2) recovering large quanties of viable single cells following incubation of the dispersed tissue with proteolytic enzymes that digest extracellular matrix.
The Jiffy Mixer is specially designed to stir viscous solutions.
Cat. No. LM, Jiffy Mixer
The leaf tissue punch produces a single 1/4 inch dia. disc. The punch holds a standard snap-top or screw-top microvial in a position to receive the sample without further manipulation.
The Lever Tissue Press is a classic garlic press which has been enhanced by addition of a silicone-rubber gasket the lever press piston and the inclusion of an extra "can" to facilitate processing of multiple samples. It efficiently macerates or mechanically disaggregates 5 to 50 grams of fresh, soft plant or animal tissue. By 'soft' we mean nonfibrous tissue. Acceptible examples are muscle, brain, liver, plant fruits, some plant roots and tubers. Tough or fibrous tissues like leaves, skin or bone will not pass through the holes in the stainless steel can..
